Ramadan: Egyptian women protest against detentions

Dozens of women have held a demonstration outside Egypt's presidential palace in Cairo against an anti-protest law, calling for the release of those detained. The women held a vigil on Sunday and raised photos of detainees while some protesters carried banners that read:"Ramadan is not the same without you," in reference to the Muslim holy month of fasting that brings families together. The vigil organizers said that they had not sought prior permission from authorities for the demo near the palace of President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi, cordoned off by police forces. The protest law, in place since 2013, criminalizes any gathering of more than five people without prior police permission and imposes hefty fines and prison sentences on violators.  Thousands of people have been detained over the controversial law, with some sentenced to up to 15 years in jail. While Egyptian authorities insist that the law is necessary to end chaos after the 2011 revolution, activists believe that the law is used to crack down on any kind of anti-government protests. Following the 2011 popular revolution, Mohammad Morsi rose to power and became Egypt’s first democratically-elected president in2012, but was ousted in July 2013in a military coup led by the then head of the armed forces and current President Sisi. The Sisi administration has been cracking down on any opposition since Morsi's ouster.

Buhari Orders Sale Of Nine Presidential Jets

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed that
nine of the Very Important Persons (VIP)
transport aircraft under the presidential fleet
should be sold.
It was gathered that it was part of the Federal
Government's measures to cut costs.
The presidential fleet is said to be one of the
largest in Africa and the third largest in Nigeria
after Arik Air and Aerocontractors.
Sources said the presidency has a number of
serviceable and unserviceable aircraft that need
to be sold to reduce Federal Government's
spending on maintenance.
It was gathered that the Federal Government
has spent over N12 billion annually for the
maintenance of the presidential fleet.

Teenager 19, kills aunt 44, locks corpse in bedroom.

According to a story sent to LIB from AkwaIbom, a 19 year old boy named Daniel Michael Edet, a student from Idoro in Uyo LGA, killed his aunt, Glory Edet Ebere, 44Yr .The boy used to live with his aunt but left her home unceremoniously. For months the aunty didn't hear from him but on June 11th, he showed up at her house and said he wanted to return home. The woman who lived alone told him he was no more welcomed in her house, that he should go back to wherever he was coming from. Daniel then asked for money to go back and the aunt said she had no money to give him. A quarrel ensued and Daniel attacked his aunt. He stabbed her multiple times, killing her. He then stole her car keys, locked her corpse inside the house and left. There's a photo of her dead body after the cut...*viewer discretion advised*Later Daniel returned to the home with his friend, one Ekemini Effiong James and together they dragged the corpse of Glory Ebere into the bedroom. Both of them cooked, ate and passed a night in the same house. Narrating how they were caught, Akwa Ibom Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Mike Okoli, said when neighbours noticed the two boys at the house with no sign of the woman for days, they became suspicious. When the two boys tried to get rid of the body, a vigilant neighbour accosted them which led to their arrest. Upon investigation, Daniel admitted to killing his aunt alone. He said - "Ekemini Effiong James did not kill, but was aware since he slept in the same room."The suspects will soon appear in court.
