Since President Goodluck Jonathan secretly signed the anti-gay law some days ago, some Nigerians and the Western communities have continued to condemn the move. They argued that the law is infringing on the fundamental rights of homosexuals, because under the law, gays and lesbians in the country will be jailed for 14 years for being who they are.

However, some group homosexuals are posed to tackle the President on the issue as they have planned to stage a protest in Abuja to press home their demands. The individuals, under the aegis of ‘The Right Defense’, said on Saturday that they would hold a demonstration in Abuja.

They are protesting against the anti-gay law which took effect on 7 January, 2014, describing it as "undemocratic and unlawful discrimination” of gays and lesbians and trans-genders in Nigeria
