Anderson and Nani arrived at Manchester United in the summer of 2007, Sir Alex Ferguson splashing out a combined fee of around £35million for two players billed as the best of their generation.
Big things were expected; Nani was hailed as the next Cristiano Ronaldo, following the same path from Sporting Lisbon to Old Trafford, while Brazilian Anderson was the youngster who would mature into the midfield general United were craving.
Now, nearly seven years on, they are both set for the exit door, victims of David Moyes’ planned shake-up of his under-performing squad.
